Grand Hotel Villa de France, hotel in Tangier

Offering an outdoor pool, Grand Hotel Villa de France is located in Tangier. The property is a 5-minute walk from a fitness center, a spa and wellness center and a tennis club.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, they really went the extra mile to accommodate requests and be of service. I felt quite safe at the hotel as a solo female traveller. The hotel grounds are lovely, offering nice views of the sea in the distance, and a big pool area to relax and enjoy the sun. Breakfast selection is good and I appreciate that it’s served until 11am. Bathtub is a bonus! Location is very close & walkable to the Medina and Kasbah.

El Minzah Hotel, hotel in Tangier

The 5-star hotel El Minzah is located in the heart of Tangier near the old medina. It offers 2 swimming pools, a fitness center and panoramic views over the bay.

El Minzah Hotel was the perfect place to stay for me as someone who was visiting Morocco for the first time! My partner, who came along with me, and I actually got a free upgrade to the suite room (the view from there was lovely!), which made the overall experience even better. 1. Great location - El Minzah was so close to places that we wanted to see, which were all in a short walking distance: Grand Socco, Tangier Medina, Saveur de Poisson, Gran Cafe de Paris, El Dorado, etc. 2. 24/7 guest service - if you needed something, there’s always someone at the reception desk. We checked out at 5am and there was someone looking out for our airport taxi. Also, the hotel staff was multilingual, friendly, and approachable and should you have any requests, someone is usually there to help you. (We did have a lock issue, where our lock wouldn’t allow two key cards - one for me and one for my partner - to unlock the same door of our original suite but the hotel staff transferred us to another suite that allowed us to use two key cards - the technician there was nice and helpful as well!) The security guards were also nice and attentive, usually directing me to my rideshare or tour guide when they’re in front of the hotel. 3. Free breakfast! We were there every morning, and it was a great way to start off a busy day of traveling, especially if you’re on a budget. I’m also a fan of their buffet-style breakfast - having variety makes continental breakfast a more enjoyable no-cost eating experience. 4. Amenities - we enjoyed the TVs, snacks, and hot shower in our room. The restaurants at El Minzah were convenient to have when we were too tired to leave the hotel to eat (I got to try their wine bar one night and a glass of Chardonnay only cost 60 MRD/6 USD). There were also other amenities that we did not take advantage of but wished we could’ve tried them if we had more time (such as the spa, pool, and gym).

Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists.

Tangier is off the beaten path for tourists. The old section was busy and the vendors are willing to bargain. It still has an older airport but for the little town they were adequate. The hotel arranged for a larger taxi and the drivers were fluent in French but not so much English. It was a laid back time with no one begging. The city had plain clothed police in the tourist areas but it was kind of cute because they were in plain clothes but had a red arm band stating they were police.

We traveled during Ramadam (on a budget) so most cafes were closed during the day, except those in heavy tourist areas, but this meant less tourists, so all in all a positive experience. The water was turned off in the Medina on two of the four mornings we were there, so I would recommend staying outside the Medina but close to it. Small dars and riads have steep stairs and no elevators so not a great option for everyone, but they have the most charm and hospitality. The Kasbah area is very nice with beautiful views.

Tangier has a special place in my heart!

Tangier has a special place in my heart! I've made so much realisations here. Indeed, a beautiful and warm place with such hospitality can help those people struggling with their mental health to realign their aspirations in life and eventually open themselves up to the rest of the world. I might not have been to a lot of places in Tangier due to short stay, the tranquility of this place helped me a lot more than any of my stay elsewhere. This is not just a holiday for me, it was a precious set of memories amongst a sea of negativities I am facing everyday that I will hold on to, to reach a better place not just for myself, though it seems like a selfish way of indulgence in the eyes of many which they would never understand. Thank you

The breakfast was the best I had in Morocco, replete with a resident tortoise which saunters around surprising me as I ate. The upper terraces had fantastic views of the harbour and the medina. The rooms and whole dar have an 1930s - 1950s feel of Tangier from a racier era. African themed prints, art, b&w photos, high ceilings, old mivie posters add to the ambience. The rooms are good sized with separate sleeping and sitting areas. The location is in the Kasbah near the museum of Mediterranean cultures and the petit and grand solos.

staff is very helpful and friendly, gave best recommendations about Tangier. location is also very convenient if you want to stay in Medina. Marina Tanja Bay is only 15mins walk from here so easy to keep chilling out till late night. Breakfast at the rooftop with great views was the best thing to start the day. 24 hours reception was a great advantage for any questions we had and super early check out. It’s a 3mins walk from the main square as the car cannot go on the inner streets so be mindful of taking heavy luggage for the trip.

In all of the places I stayed in Morocco, this was by far the most beautiful place. The room was very clean, as soon as you walk in there is a beautiful smell. the man at the reception (his name was Ashraf) was exceptionally respectful and nice, he was very welcoming as we entered the hotel. The breakfast was good, and the staff as well were wonderful. If I come to tangier again, I will definitely visit this hotel. It is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in, in tangier. The hotel is right in the middle of the medina which we loved. There are restaurants near by and you can easily walk to the ferry. The room is basic but quiet and comfortable. What was really special about the hotel was the host, Larbi. He offered to be our guide and toured us around Tangier for an entire day, he was really knowledgeable and took us to places we wouldn't have know about otherwise. We really enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again. Thank you Larbi!!

Great location, the best part is the rooftop terrace overlooking Tangier bay and the old town. It's also conveniently located just next to Place de la Kasbah. The shower has warm water and high pressure which is not to be taken for granted considering the location in the Medina. Juan wrote me everyday to see that I was fine and also made necessary arrangements for my pick up and the tour to Cape Spartel and surroundings.

This hotel is super well located. Among all the Riads (actual Riads in medinas, not condos in modern parts), we tried in Morocco, this one is located closest to parking space (like, less than 100 meters away), and the Kasbah attractions are all close by. The room itself is spacey and comfortable, and the rooftop offers great views.

The hotel is located in the medina (old town) and it has a fairly central location. They serve delicious welcome team and at night there was musician playing oud. It was magnificent.

Great location with a view on the harbour and right next to the Medina. Be sure to try the restaurant because the food is simply excellent. Best filet steak in Morocco!
